Microcement Stairs, Islands & Fireplaces in Scottsdale

Treads, risers, kitchen islands, countertops, vanities, tables and fireplace surrounds. If it's solid and sound, it can take the same finish as the floor.

The floor keeps going

Because microcement goes on in thin coats, it wraps a stair tread and its riser, runs up the side of an island, or covers a fireplace surround. The floor, the stair and the counter all read as the same material.

These are the jobs with the most hand work. Every edge, nosing and return gets troweled by our own crew. Tell us what you want covered on the discovery call and we'll tell you straight whether it's a good candidate.

  • Stair treads, risers and curved stairs
  • Kitchen islands, countertops and waterfall ends
  • Vanity tops and fronts
  • Fireplace surrounds (the surround, not the firebox)
  • Dining tables, benches and built-ins
  • Two-component top coat on counters and anything that gets wet

For walls of stone texture instead, see MCM flexible stone.

Fireplace surrounds start at $3,500 installed. See the pricing page.

Questions we get

Before you call

Can it go on a kitchen countertop?

Yes, with the two-component top coat. Use a trivet for hot pans and a board for cutting. It's a hand-applied finish, not a stone slab, and it gets treated that way.

Will stair edges chip?

Nosings take the most wear on any stair. We look at the stair's structure and edge detail at the Measure & Spec visit and tell you if a tread is a poor candidate.

What does a fireplace cost?

Fireplace surrounds start at $3,500 installed. Stairs and islands are priced at the visit, since the edges and returns drive the hand work.

Do you have photos of your own stair and island work?

Not on this page yet. The photos here are finish references from our material library. Our own island and stair jobs go up as they finish and the owners sign off.
