Microcement on a curved stair and wall

Our specialty

Microcement in Scottsdale & Paradise Valley

Floors, walls, showers, vanities and fireplaces in one continuous hand-applied surface, with no grout lines.

Home › Microcement

One surface. No grout lines.

Microcement is a two-component finish applied by hand in successive coats about a millimeter thick. It goes on floors, walls, showers, vanities, countertops and fireplace surrounds, inside and out. Nothing to stain along a grout joint, and no tile seams to come loose.

The material is ordinary. The application is not. A wall either reads as one unbroken plane or it shows every lap mark, and that comes down to the hands doing it. It goes on by our own crew, scheduled by us and accountable to us, not a sub we book and hope for.

  • Floors, walls, wet rooms and shower pans, vanities, countertops, fireplace surrounds
  • Two-component system, built up in coats of roughly one millimeter
  • Rated for interior and exterior use, with a two-component top coat in wet areas
  • Applied by our own crew, never subcontracted
  • Allow about a week after the final coat before heavy use
  • Eighteen standard tones, in coarse and fine textures, matte throughout
  • Goes over existing tile, painted walls, drywall and concrete once the surface is roughened and primed, so a bath does not always need a tear-out

It is also the finish that best serves how we build. A continuous surface gives the eye nothing to stop on, which is the point of every material decision we make: the room should defer to what is outside it.

The finish

What you are actually choosing

The whole specification in one place. Tone and texture get decided at the Measure & Spec visit, against physical samples rather than a screen.

TonesEighteen standard tones. Custom tinting on request.
TextureCoarse for floors and traffic, fine for walls, vanities and anything you touch. Floors take both: coarse built up first, fine on top.
SheenMatte throughout. The top coat is the protective layer and it is what sets the sheen.
SubstratesExisting tile, painted walls, drywall and concrete. Smooth surfaces get roughened and primed first, which is why a bath does not always need a tear-out.
Build-upWalls: two coats around a millimeter. Floors: two coarse coats and two fine, over fiber mesh.
Wet areasTwo-component top coat and hardener, interior or exterior.

Tone names and the selection board are set at the visit. Color on a screen is not color in your room.

Questions we get

Before you call

What can it go on?

Floors, walls, shower walls and pans, vanities, countertops and fireplace surrounds, inside and out. Wet areas take a two-component top coat. It also goes straight over existing tile, painted walls, drywall and concrete once the surface is roughened and primed.

How long does it take?

It is built up in coats of roughly a millimeter with twelve to twenty-four hours of drying between them, so a room is several days of work rather than one. Allow about a week after the final coat before heavy use.

Who actually applies it?

Our own crew, not a subcontractor. On a hand-applied finish that is the whole difference between a wall that reads as one plane and one that does not.

Can you match a color?

Tone is mixed in at the main coat stage. Bring a sample or a reference and we will work to it.
