Microcement Floors in Scottsdale & Paradise Valley

One floor from room to room, with no grout lines and no transition strips at the doorways.

A floor with no joints in it

Tile cuts a room into a grid. A microcement floor runs as one surface, through the doorways and from the kitchen into the living room, so the whole floor reads as a single plane.

It's built up by hand: two coarse coats over fiber mesh, two fine coats on top, then the sealing coat. It goes down over a sound concrete slab, or over existing tile once the surface is roughened and primed, so a new floor doesn't always mean a demolition. Our own crew lays every coat. You can watch them on a Scottsdale floor in the film below.

  • Two coarse coats over fiber mesh, two fine coats on top
  • Over concrete slabs and sound existing tile
  • Runs through doorways with no transition strips
  • Matte top coat, eighteen standard tones
  • About a week after the final coat before heavy furniture and full traffic

Carry it up the walls and the room has no edges at all. See microcement walls.

Floors run $16 to $24 per square foot installed. Full ranges are on the pricing page.

Questions we get

Before you call

Can it go over my existing tile floor?

Usually, if the tile is sound and well bonded. The grout lines get filled, the surface is roughened and primed, and the coats go on over the top. Tile that drums or is cracked has to come up first. We check it at the Measure & Spec visit.

Will it crack?

The base coats go over fiber mesh to resist cracking. A crack that is already moving in the slab underneath can still show through, so we look at the slab before we price it.

How long does a floor take?

Coats go on with twelve to twenty-four hours of drying between them, so a floor is several days of work. Allow about a week after the final coat before heavy use.

What does it cost?

Floors run $16 to $24 per square foot installed. Large open floors land toward the low end. The minimum project is $3,500.

Who does the work?

Our own crew, never a subcontractor. On a floor you look at every day, the hands doing the troweling are the whole job.
